Sometimes a repair is not sufficient to fix your furnace. Sometimes a new furnace is the most cost-effective and energy-efficient way to go. We will always be honest with you about a possible furnace replacement. We value our time and your money––we don’t want to perform repairs or service on an appliance that is in need of replacement.
If you do need a furnace replacement, we know how overwhelming it can be. Here are some of the frequently asked questions about furnaces that we get from some of our Tigard, OR residents:
What Are The Different Types Of Furnaces?
Single Stage: A single-stage furnace has only one stage of operation. It can either be turned on or turned off.
Two Stage: A two-stage furnace has two settings––full and half speed. This is a more efficient way to heat and provides for better comfort, because it can move the air at a slower pace.
Variable Stage or Modulating: A variable-stage or modulating furnace modulates the speed and heat output based on the temperature outside and the desired comfort level. This furnace only works as much as you need it, making this type the most energy-efficient type of furnace.
What Is AFUE?
AFUE, or Annualized Fuel Utilization Efficiency, is a measure of furnace-heating efficiency. The higher the AFUE, the more efficient the furnace.
What Size Furnace Do I Need?
We can calculate the correct size furnace for your home. The number of BTUs, or British Thermal Units, needed to heat your home is dependent on a number of variables. Contrary to what you might think, a bigger furnace may not necessarily mean more heating power for your home. Call us at Climate Control, and we can set up an appointment to calculate the furnace size you might need.

“We have generally been pleased with our experience with CC over two homes and many years. Jason indicated that several pieces of equipment are failing and need significant repair or replacement. The invoice was supposed to detail our alternatives for consideration, but is incomplete. Also, Jason didn't secure the back door from the laundry room after using it to access the heat pumps, which allowed our 3 muddy dogs to romp through the house getting muddy paw prints almost everywhere – not a fun surprise to come home to.”

“Our furnace was not operating. I called Climate Control and was able to have someone come out within a couple of hours. Dennis arrived and diagnosed the problem quickly. He thoroughly walked me through the replacement process and helped to reprogram our system inside and out. I purchased the maintenance program based on his recommendation after he walked me through each step of what was included and why it is important to the over all performance of the furnace. I never felt pressured into purchasing anything and felt confident with the information he provided on how the system works overall. I appreciate his expertise and service.”

“The ignitor went out on our Carrier furnace late Friday afternoon and we couldn't find a Carrier dealer available to come out until Monday to get our heat on. We were not looking forward to a long weekend without heat in February. Our last option was Climate Control. They got me in touch with Juan, an incredibly nice guy who was very patient with my endless questions. He came out Saturday, immediately diagnosed the problem and replaced the ignitor. Bingo! Our 25 year old furnace worked again. It's going to be in the 30's and 20's at night for the next several nights. Sure glad Climate Control is available weekends and employs smart techs who care about their customers!”

“Steve did an outstanding and super-thorough job of making sure my electrostatic filter was fully functional and clean. He went the extra and proactive step of making sure the entire furnace was fully functional and operating at full efficiency. He caught a missing part that the company that installed and maintained the furnace up to now, had missed.
I could not be more impressed with his work and professionalism.”

“We Have been customers with Climate Control for over 18 years.
Per a Preventative Maintenance service call with a loud blower motor, Rayneel Sewak discovered the need for a Career Blower motor and a new blower fan.
He coordinated this with Casey Johnston, Repair Manager and drove one and half hours that night to obtain the parts and then bring them back to the residence to install both parts.
It Runs like New.
We will call for him for the Preventative Contract in 2019.
